Subject: RE: A draft "lite" COI disclosure form To: "'Peter B Gilkey'" Add to address book... From: "Rob Horner" Add to address book... Date: Tue, 27 Jan 2009 14:50:54 -0800 Peter Thank you for your efforts to move us forward I believe we could make this work in the College of Education. 1. I like the fact that detailed disclosure is not requested unless a person meets the criteria for what is currently a Level 3 disclosure. This should result in many fewer files....yet the expectation and responsibility remains for anyone to provide disclosure...the University has performed its obligation by requiring disclosure and clarifying the trigger...but the University does NOT engage in the ubiquitous monitoring that is so intrusive and cumbersome. 2. I think we need to add some "process" message....see my recommended addition to paragraph #2 3. The "lite" form does not deal with the "Purchasing and Contracting" language of the current form...this is language that is new to me too... and if we can formally discard that language it would be great. 4. The logic model (5 areas of potential problem.... four levels of review) is still something that is useful for us. My sense is that you have not altered the basic logic model but instead have done two things: a) shifted the trigger for filing to the "level 3" standard b) removed any format for adding information. I think we may need to add some guidance for how to complete the disclosure content rather than simply asking them to "explain" I like the trajectory... thank you I will be on the road Friday, and will miss the discussion... I look forward to the minutes Rob
