Dear members of the COI-COC Senate ad hoc committee.

 I am resigning effective immediately from the committee and am appointing John
Bonine as acting chair of the committee. I am going to ask him to chair the
committee meeting Friday and set the agenda.

 I am copying this to Senate President Paul van Donkelaar and asking him
thereby to appoint John as permanent chair of the committee. I feel that John
has a vision of where the committee should go that is shared by many of the
members of the committee and thus would be a much more effective chair in
directing the activities of the committee than I can be. I therefore recommend
John highly and without reservation to Paul as permanent chair of the committee
and hope that Paul appoints him as chair.

 My resignation is partly a time management problem. I am spending enormous
amounts of time on this committee - in the past 7 days, my calendar records 6+
hours alone in meetings that related to the committee. And I feel my time could
be more productively spent in other endeavors.

 As Senate Webmaster I shall of course continue to act as webmaster for the
committee as the committee documents are hosted on the Senate Account. So I
shall respectfully ask John to send me emails of the form "Dear Peter. Please
post the following document on the web and link it as appropriately" or other
related requests.

 I wish you the very best. You have a task that is crucial to our University.
