I will be attending the meeting late today, as I have a class from 2:30 to
4:20.  I wanted to share the following concerns with you.    I am deeply
concerned that the original draft policy would adversely impact scholarly
activities at the law school, including writing books, speaking to outside
groups, and working on legislative initiatives.  While it does not affect me
directly (at this time), I am also concerned about the "1 in 7" rule, which
under state policy should be the "1 in 5" rule, changed without faculty input
or review.  I also believe that the dean should have significant discretion in
permitting outside activities by faculty members.
