Dear Greg: This is to confirm in writing the substance of our conversation a few moments ago about "Conflict of Interest/Conflict of Commitment" when you called me about getting some background material. I chair the Senate Ad Hoc Committee on that subject -- the committee web page http://www.uoregon.edu/~uosenate/dirsen089/COICOCC.html contains an enormous amount of information on that subject. An action item for the near future is that the committee is hosting a "Town Hall Meeting" on the subject. I am taking the liberty of attaching the announcement to this email and take this opportunity to invite you to attend. Carl Bybee, Rich Linton, and Rob Horner will lead off the meeting with brief presentations and you may wish to contact them. You know Rich I think; Rob is a member of the committee and Carl is Acting President of the UO Chapter of the AAUP.

The committee has met once for organizational purposes and will meet again in the near future to be "briefed" -- our briefing book is on the web linked from the committee web page as everything we do is very public. We plan to meet at least once a week through the winter quarter (and perhaps beyond then).

So I hope to see you at the "Town Hall Meeting" and let us keep in touch.
