Dear Melinda:

On November 20 - two months ago - you prepared the attached memo in response to Professor Bill Harbaugh's motion to the UO Senate calling for the establishment of a University Transparency Committee to review public records requests to UO by UO faculty and staff. The goal of the motion is to improve access to these records and promote a more open, transparent, and trusting relationship between the faculty and the administration.

Your memo presents a $67,000 estimate for UO's cost of replying to recent public records requests. I write here to ask that you forward me a copy of all the supporting documentation used in preparing this estimate.

As you may know, Oregon's public records law does not apply to intergovernmental requests. This, therefore, is not a public records request, but rather a request to you as UO General Counsel, in my role as UO Senate President.
