Dear President Frohmayer and Senate Members,

I just wanted to tell you how much I admire the University of Oregon's decision to join the WRC. I realize that there is a great deal of money at stake for any university that considers challenging NIKE but that you have >more at stake than most. You have made a stand for the values of equity >and human dignity and there is no greater good a university, or an individual, can do. You have set an inspiring example for your students and for other universities, such as my own, that are a bit slower on the path toward enlightenment

My grandmother would call the FLA an example of "the fox guarding the hen house". There can be no progress in the conditions under which these workers toil until there is an honest accounting of those conditions. I hope that you will continue to your association with the WRC in spite of the pressure (extortion ?) you are currently facing.

Thank you and good luck -

Sincerely, Kate Northcott University of Kentucky
