It was a defensive battle throughout the entire match, neither side giving up a goal in either regulation or extra time. Both squads found their best opportunities off of set pieces but neither could capitalize for what would have been the winning goal. After two 10 minute perionds of extra time, the game came down to penalty kicks. Both SLCC and the Ducks put away their first PK's, but SLCC goalkeeper came up with a crucial save on Oregon's second attempt. Salt Lake went on to putting away all five of their PK's to win the hard fought match. Last season the Ducks came out the victor against SLCC where the final was 2-1, all goals scored on PK's in regulation time.
The ducks were the victor of their two pool play matches in the NIRSA NW Regional Tournament. The first match was played against the University if Utah where Oregon put away the winning goal in the 87th minute on a shot 30 yrds out Skyler Stevenson. Oregon in their second match of the tournament came out on top 6 - 0, putting away five in the first half and playing the entire line-up throughout the match.
