After a dissapointing finish to last years season at Nationals, the Ducks are back in action. A six hour trip to Walla Walla college didn't slow down Oregon's offense. In the second minute of play Thomas Golding was fouled at the top of the 18, setting up a free kick. Jason Modahl connected with Golding on the set piece for a diving header that put the Ducks up 1-0. In the 18th minute of play, Golding threaded a ball through the wolves defensive line finding Nick Bickle-Eldridge who placed the ball back post for the Ducks second goal of the afternoon. Benton Collins found the back of the net in the 26th minute while following up on a shot from Jeff Masterson. Golding finished the scoring for the half on an unassisted goal in the 38th minute to put the Ducks up 4-0. Freshman Joshua Herman picked up the scoring for the ducks in the 55th minute of play weaving his way around the defense. Modahl picked up his second assist of the game with another through ball to Golding who recorded his first hat trick with the Ducks. Modahl finished the the scoring for Oregon in the 68th minute off a corner kick from Masterson. The defense played very well with many new faces seeing the field for the first time. Patrick Drake and Sean Loud are credited with the shut out splitting time during the game. The Wolves only managed to hit one shot on goal during the match.
Game Ball goes to Thomas Golding
The Ducks return 14 men from last years roster, however Michael Latteri will not be joining them on the field until after the Fall season due to a fractured foot. The team will be carrying 25 men on the roster this year due to a strong showing during try-outs. This weekend the Ducks will travel to Bend to play COCC in their second game of the season.
