Abstract: The goal of StemBox is to make real science accessible to young girls and empower them to believe in their ability to become scientists. Kina, who has a B.S. in general science from Seattle University, has served as a research technician and has experienced first-hand both the love of science and the struggles that women can face on the path to and within a science career. Kina is interestedin what keeps girls and women away from STEM fields, and started StemBox as a way of increasing girls' interest in science and encouraging girls to remain in these fields as they progress in their education.
