WGS Undergrad Outreach Event "Beyond a Science Degree"

Our undergrad research event, "Beyond a Science Degree" is focused on providing information to physical science majors on what their options are post graduation. We are working to help connect students with research opportunities, provide advice on how to reach their goals, and expand the common idea of what you can do with a science degree. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP to uowgs@uoregon.edu. Guests who RSVP will be automatically entered to win a variety of great prizes from local vendors! Light snacks and refreshments will be served.

The UO Women in Graduate Science seminar series is proud to welcome Prof. Ben Barres on May 14th from 11am-noon in Deschutes 220. Prof. Barres is a distinguished Professor of Neurobiology, Developmental Biology and Neurology at Stanford University, and a strong public advocate for gender equality in the sciences. UOWGS will host an engaging and interactive roundtable discussion with Prof. Barres regarding women in STEM. We'd love to include your thoughts during the discussion; please email your roundtable questions for Prof. Barres to uowgs@uoregon.edu before the event.

The UO Women in Graduate Sciences is proud to cohost the ION seminar series of Dr. Ben Barres on May 14th from 4-5pm in Willamette 110. Dr. Barres has pioneered work in glia neurobiology that has elevated glia from the lowly "glue" of the brain to integral members of the central nervous system formation that are required for proper synaptogenesis. His current work also focuses on the roles of glia and neurons in regeneration or more precisely, the failure to regenerate after injury.
