About Me

I was born and raised in Penang, a small island in Malaysia. I started having piano lessons at the age of three. Learning music was one of my father’s dream unfortunately it didn’t happen for him and I guess that was one of the reasons why my father made my siblings and I learn music. My father always tells me that my first piano teacher once told him “never let your child give up on music” and that was what kept me going and having my parents encouraging me all this time. I started taking Yamaha courses at the age of six and started ABRSM at the age of seven. Learning music was one of the biggest thing that made my life more interesting and meaningful. Starting from year 2015, my music teachers gave me opportunities to perform on stage during school assembly and small recitals. These experiences made me feel more confident playing the piano as it made me realize that I can actually make it. Receiving encouragement and compliments from teachers and friends made me feel like I want to play and learn music more in-depth and hope that this will make people realize the beauty of music and to make the world a much more wonderful place. I’m currently studying at the University of Oregon and I’m lucky to have Dr. Dossin as my piano performance instructor. Looking forward to have a great year ahead learning music with Dr. Dossin.
