Milton Fernandez

 
 

Pianist Milton Fernández began his musical studies at an early age at the Dina Music Academy in the Dominican Republic. His early music instructors included outstanding Cuban and Dominican teachers Hilda Melis, Karelia Escalante, Ivan Dominguez and Lillian Brugal.

Graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance (2012) from the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico, where he studied with Professor Marissa Garcia. Graduated Summa Cum Laude with a master’s degree in Piano Performance (2015)  and a Performance Artist Certificate (2016) from Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas, where he studied with Dr. Andrew Parr.

Mr. Fernández has performed as a soloist with the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Santo Domingo, conducted by Maestro Darwin Aquino and the Camerata Washington Heights conducted by Maestro Carlos Andrés Mejía.

Fernandez had been winner of several competitions and awards, like the 2015 Stephen F. Austin State University President’s Award for Recitalist of the Year, the Third Prize in the 2015 Texas Music Teachers Association Piano Competition.

In April 2015, he was accepted as a member of the American Association of Musicians of Honor, “Pi Kappa Lambda.” And, in 2016 became a member of the American Liszt Society


During his career, Fernández has participated in numerous national and international Master Classes and piano camps in which he has had the opportunity to work with prominent pianists such as: Ian Hobson, John Owings, Jorge Luis Prats, Milana Strezeva, Leonel Morales, Vincenzo Balzani, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Cecilia Talavera, Catharine Lysinger, receiving from them excellent comments and compliments for his technique and musicality. In 2016 Milton, start Pursuing a Doctorate in Music and Arts degree at the University of Oregon becoming a student of Dr. Alexander Dossin.
