The design of the east and west sunshades will be less effective than those facing south, at excluding solar heat gain during the summer months. Inquiry Questions - Could there be slight dimensional differences in the shading devices or windows for each orientation? - Could there be differences in glazing types for each orientation to account for shading deficiencies? - Is high performance glazing used in the window assemblies? - What orientation experiences the highest rates of solar heat gain? - Considering that there are different numbers of window bays for each orientation, which window orientation contributes the most to summer solar heat gain? - Was the shade design repeated for economical or aesthetic reasons, or both? - Would vertical shading devices work better on the east/west sides of the school? |
