UO’s Applied Information Management program reaching students on the go

EUGENE, Ore. -- (Jan. 31, 2012) – The University of Oregon’s only fully online degree program is providing additional service for current and prospective students who want to access information from mobile devices.

The University of Oregon Applied Information Management (AIM) master’s degree program recently launched a mobile website—http://aim.uoregon.edu/m/. The mobile site provides a user-friendly website for smart phones and features news and course schedules as well as information about the AIM Program and admissions.

AIM Program students are employed in a wide range of organizations and positions, including information systems managers, technical writers, marketing managers, financial systems analysts, network administrators, engineers, systems analysts, designers, accountants, educators, law enforcement personnel and healthcare managers.

“Technology users today expect mobile devices to provide a one-stop information management solution,” said Linda Ettinger, AIM senior academic director. “We view the mobile website as adding value and convenience, especially for interested students who may be just starting to research schools and programs.”

According to Ettinger, AIM is unlike traditional information technology programs because it takes an applied, multidisciplinary approach, preparing professionals with a big picture perspective on managing information in a wide variety of organizations and positions.

The mobile website’s menu design, copy, and final programming was done by AIM Program staff, with some initial framework assistance completed in partnership with a third-party vendor.

For those interested in browsing the main AIM Program site via their mobile device, that option remains available.
