EUGENE, Ore. – (Oct. 23, 2012) – The UO Museum of Natural and Cultural History will host a “Fossil Family Day” to allow visitors of all ages to explore Oregon fossils, the science of paleontology and animal adaptations on Sunday, Nov. 4, from 11 am to 3 p.m.
During the event, interactive exhibitions will include testing of various animal insulations, creating an animal stick-puppet to “perform” on stage, finding and curating fossils in the “PaleoLab” and seeing and touching real fossils from the museum’s collection.
Performances by MNCH Marionettes Cami and the Wonder Crew will take place throughout the day.
A paleontologist will lead fossil walks at noon and at 1 p.m. Participants can also enjoy free snacks in the museum’s Galleria.
The museum is located at 1680 East 15th Avenue, across from Hayward Field. Family Day admission is $5 for families (two adults and up to four youth, aged 18 and under). MNCH members are admitted for free. New members can join the museum forhalf price on family day.

The UO Museum of Natural and Cultural History is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for seniors and youths ages 17 and under, and $8 for families (two adults and up to four youths). Museum members are admitted free. Admission is free to the public each Wednesday. Guided tours are offered each Friday at 1:00 and 3:00 pm.
