UO conferred more than 1,200 degrees at summer commencement Aug. 18

EUGENE, Ore. -- (Aug. 14, 2012) -- More than 1,200 degree candidates were eligible to participate in the University of Oregon's 2012 summer commencement exercises on Saturday, Aug. 18.University of Oregon President Michael Gottfredson presided over the outdoor ceremony on the Memorial Quadrangle on the west side of the UO campus.

Summer term's 1,236 degree candidates will receive 1,281 degrees and certificates. The university will award 950 bachelor's degrees, 34 certificates, 244 master's degrees and 53 doctoral degrees.
