EUGENE, Ore. – (May 30, 2014) –Jill Strandquist, a 1989 graduate of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oregon, has been honored by the UO Alumni Association as the recipient of the Jeanne Johnson Alumni Service Award.

Strandquist first became a member of the UOAA in 1989, and has served the association for 20 years. A life member since 2002, she has participated on the boards of three of the UOAA’s 22 chapters: the Seattle Ducks (1999–2005), PDX Ducks (2006–10), and Arizona’s Desert Ducks (2010–present).

Now living in Chandler, Ariz., Strandquist is an at-large member of the UOAA’s Desert Ducks chapter, after spending the last eight years as a director on the national board.

Always willing and eager to help the UOAA, Strandquist has hosted Freshmen Send-Offs at her house, led board committees, volunteered at bowl games, helped the Desert Ducks adopt an elementary school classroom—and arranged for the Duck and UO cheerleaders to visit that classroom—and supported tailgates.

Strandquist joins other recipients of the Jeanne Johnson Alumni Service Award including former UO football coach Len Casanova (1993), Starbucks senior vice president of global communications Corey duBrowa (2010), and philanthropist Cheryl Ramberg Ford (2011).

Jill Strandquist is married to Jason Strandquist, and is the senior marketing manager in charge of Arizona, Nevada and Utah territory management for California Casualty Management Company.

Jeanne Johnson, the namesake of the Jeanne Johnson Alumni Service Award, dedicated years of her life to serving the UOAA in a number of roles.
