More than 1,110 degrees to be conferred at Aug. 16 summer commencement
EUGENE, Ore. – (Aug. 13, 2014) – A total of 1,117 degree candidates are eligible to participate in the University of Oregon's 2014 summer commencement at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, on the Memorial Quadrangle.
Anne Marie Levis, president and creative director of Funk/Levis & Associates, will speak to graduates during the outdoor ceremony on the lawn between Knight Library and the Lillis Business Complex.
Beyond leading a premier marketing and public relations firm, Levis is an active member of the Eugene community volunteering on the 4J School Board and was recently the president of the University of Oregon Alumni Association. Levis holds a degree in marketing from California State University at Chico and earned her MBA from the University of Oregon.
The friends and families of graduates are welcome to attend the commencement ceremony and no tickets are needed. Interim President Scott Coltrane will preside over the celebratory event.
Parking is available on nearby streets and in UO parking lots. There will be a drop-off area for guests with disabilities near the Knight Library entrance and designated parking is available at hooded meters on Kincaid Street between 13th and 15th avenues. A sign-language interpreter will be available at the ceremony; guests with impaired hearing are encouraged to sit in the first few rows.
Summer term's 1,117 degree candidates will receive a total of 1,169 degrees and certificates. The university will award 805 bachelor's degrees, 262 master's degrees, 51 doctoral degrees, 37 graduate certificates, 10 undergraduate certificates and four first-professional degrees.
