Reported: “…the UO’s office of marketing and brand management considered requiring that apparel licensees guarantee the university $500,000 in royalty payments each year.”
Fact: The language in the referenced RFP was clear that the guarantee of $500,000 in royalty payments would only be required of vendors who expressed interest in the entire apparel and headwear licensing program. As the responses indicated, bidders understood this and made proposals for specific channels of distribution and/or product categories with guarantees well below the threshold for fulfilling the entire product categories.
