EUGENE, Ore. -- (Aug. 6, 2010) -- More than 1,000 degree candidates are eligible to participate in the University of Oregon's 2010 summer commencement exercises at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 14.

Robin Holmes, vice president for Student Affairs, will speak to the graduates during the outdoor ceremony on the Memorial Quadrangle on the west edge of the UO campus. Tickets are not needed for the event.

Holmes is a licensed clinical psychologist and has worked at the UO since 1992. As the leader of the university's efforts to support students' academic experience and success, she oversees the Career Center, the Counseling and Testing Center, the Dean of Students Office, Erb Memorial Union, the University Health Center, the Holden Leadership Center, University Housing, and the Department of Physical Education and Recreation.

Parking for summer commencement is available in university parking lots and on nearby streets. There will be a drop-off area for guests near the Knight Library entrance. Designated parking is available at hooded meters on Kincaid Street between 13th and 15th Avenues. A sign-language interpreter will be available at the ceremony.

Summer term's 1,005 degree candidates will receive 1,095 degrees and certificates. The university will award 715 bachelor's degrees, 83 certificates, 247 master's degrees, 49 doctoral degrees and one law degree.
