EUGENE, Ore. -- (May 11, 2010) – The University of Oregon has issued a white paper, “Preserving our Public Mission through a New Partnership with the State.”
The white paper outlines what the UO has in mind as it seeks to preserve its public university mission through governance reform, increased accountability and a new financial partnership with the state. The white paper is available at: http://president.uoregon.edu/files/2010/05/UO-White-Paper.pdf.
“The discussion about the opportunity and responsibility to stabilize Oregon’s public institutions of higher education has been occurring for some time now,” said UO President Richard W. Lariviere in a note to faculty and staff today. “This document is intended to provoke thought, feedback and suggestion. The concepts are dynamic and will be shared with a broad range of Oregonians and university stakeholders.”
UO will launch a public involvement website to solicit campus and other stakeholder comments on Friday, May 14. The site will be available at: http://newpartnership.uoregon.edu.
