EUGENE, Ore. -- (Feb. 27, 2009) - The work of award-winning photographer Don Lown will be featured in a new exhibit at the UO Museum of Natural and Cultural History. The exhibit will open with a free artist's reception from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 6.

Lown, an avid nature photographer and bird watcher, has taken thousands of photos of natural settings since setting out into the woods with his Kodak Baby Brownie at age 10.

"Close up nature provides intriguing opportunities for photographing shapes, textures, colors and patterns," said Lown. His inspiration is seeing details that occur in profusion but are often overlooked.

The exhibit will be on display until June 28.

Museum hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Admission is $3 for adults; $2 for seniors and youths ages 17 and under and $8 for families (two adults and up to four youths). Museum members, university faculty and staff and students are admitted free. Admission is free for the public on Wednesdays.
