EUGENE, Ore. -- (Jan. 23, 2009) - The University of Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History will host a Winter Family Fun Day on Saturday, Feb. 7, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Families will learn how to "read" a rock, join a fossil hunt and make a fossil as they play and learn together with hands-on activities in the newest museum exhibit "Seeing Time." Visitors will also find out what small details, such as texture, grain size and crystal structure, can tell about a rock.
The new exhibit, "Seeing Time-Geologic Clues to Our Ancient Earth," opened this month.
Winter Family Fun Day will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at the museum, 1680 E. 15th Ave. Admission is $5 for families (two adults and up to four youths), MNCH members are free. The museum will offer new memberships for half price on family day.
Museum hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Admission is $3 for adults; $2 for seniors and youths ages 17 and under; and $8 for families (two adults and up to four youths). Museum members, university faculty and staff and students are admitted free. Admission is free for the public on Wednesdays.
