EUGENE, OR – (Dec. 20, 2011) -- The University of Oregon has a suggestion for Duck fans who want to promote their allegiance to the university and the team en route to the Rose Bowl. “Duck My Ride” encourages road-warrior Duck fans to decorate vehicles for the drive to Pasadena and the surrounding Los Angeles area.
“We want to turn I-5 and all of Los Angeles into a sea of yellow and green to showcase fan support for the University of Oregon,” said Susan Thelen, UO’s director of advertising. “We’re excited to see cars, vans, trucks, motorhomes and probably even a few motorcycles dressed up for the big contest.”
The Duck Store, UO Alumni Association, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Office of Admissions are working together on the promotion, which is designed to support all aspects of athletic and academic excellence at the university.
Participants can upload photos at http://DuckMyRide.com and view a live Twitter feed of other vehicles on the road to Pasadena and in Southern California. The UO Duck Store plans in-store promotions and prize giveaways.
“We are excited about Duck My Ride,” said Craig Pintens, UO senior associate athletic director. “From the Golden Gate Bridge to the Hollywood sign, we can’t wait to see California filled with creative Duck fans supporting our school.”
A grand-prize winner will be announced after the Rose Bowl, with a prize package including a plaque and a $150 gift card to the Duck Store.
