EUGENE, Ore. -- (March 2, 2009) -- The finalist candidate for the presidency at the University of Oregon is scheduled to meet with students, faculty, staff and the community on March 10 and 11. Richard Lariviere, executive vice chancellor and provost at the University of Kansas, will meet with campus officials and community leaders, and hold forums with students, faculty and staff during his visit to Eugene.
A community/campus forum, which is open to the public, will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, in the Erb Memorial Union (EMU) ballroom, 1222 E 13th Ave.
UO students, faculty and staff will have an additional opportunity to meet the finalist and ask questions during a campus forum scheduled 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, in the EMU ballroom.
Lariviere was selected as the finalist candidate by Oregon University System Chancellor George Pernsteiner based on the recommendation of the 25-person search committee after an eight-month national search process. Individuals who want to provide comments should submit them to the chancellor at newpres@uoregon.edu. Comments should be submitted by noon on Thursday, March 12. The Oregon State Board of Higher Education will make the final hiring decision. The new president will begin this summer following President Dave Frohnmayer's retirement after 15 years in the position.
