UO President Emeritus to make Constitution Day presentation Sept. 17

EUGENE, Ore. -- (Sept. 14, 2012) -- University of Oregon School of Law Professor and President Emeritus Dave Frohnmayer will deliver a Constitution Day presentation titled “Traps and Treasures of the American Constitution”at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, in 184 Knight Law Center, 1515 Agate St. in Eugene.

Constitution Day is the anniversary of the day in 1787 when the delegates to the Constitutional Convention met for the last time in Philadelphia to sign the document they created for ratification by the states.

Constitution Day was established as a law in 2004, written by the late Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia. It is to be celebrated annually on September 17.  When Constitution Day falls on a weekend or on another holiday, it is to be observed on the preceding or following week.
