Re: Graduate Teaching Assistantships in Ethnic Studies


The Ethnic Studies Program is seeking qualified applicants for Graduate Teaching Assistantships for the 2002-03 academic year. We are asking your help in notifying qualified students of this opportunity.

Qualifications:

1. Admission to University of Oregon graduate program as a degree-seeking student.

2. Significant knowledge of African American, Chicana/Chicano, Latina/Latino, Native American,
Asian American, or comparative ethnic studies.

3. For some positions, teaching experience is required.

4. Record of academic excellence.

5. Strong interdisciplinary background.

Two types of positions are available:

1. Assisting the instructor in ES101 and ES102, and leading two (2) discussion sections in each course.

2. Teaching lower-division courses.

Salary is determined by the GTF bargaining contract and the contract mandates different salary ranges based on experience and academic level. The Assistantship includes a waiver of tuition and health benefits.

An application must include an Application for Graduate Teaching Fellow Award, official transcripts, two letters of reference and a current C.V. including an outline of the applicant's qualifications, interest, and future goals in ethnic studies. For teaching positions, include a syllabus of the proposed course(s).
