Tamarkin Instructor (1997-2001)
Brown University.
Assistant Professor (2001-present)

Curriculum Vitae, as of October 2004
Research interests include applications
of homotopy theory to the study of manifolds, in particular knot theory and
transformation groups.
In spring of 2005, I am teaching
MA 243: Statistics and an advanced graduate seminar.
My teaching interests
involve different methods depending on the class. For students
with little experience or confidence, clarity and a wealth of
explicit examples are essential. For students ready to transition
to more advanced mathematics, I like to use open-ended problems,
experimentation and visualization.
I co-organized the
Cascade Topology Seminar in the fall of 2003.
I am currently serving on the
U of O
faculty senate and my department's executive, library, and undergraduate
advising committees.
