Daily Report from Anthony Johnson

A rollicking night, took its toll on several of the science party.  Winds steady at 30 Kts from the south, heading directly into it all night long.  Steady pitching.

Near 0400 UTC all guns are firing, run in for line 5 begins 1 hour later.  Total of 8 hours required to get entire array out and functioning.  First shot on line 5 is taken from the north at 2320 LT.  We are on our way!

Throughout line 5 the guns perform reasonably well.  An air leak develops on line 2 and line 3 often reports that the guns did not fire.  This may or may not be the case.  The techs think it is more likely that the guns did shoot, but the system is not reporting this accurately.

At the end of line 5 we pull both strings 2 and 3 to make repairs.  This takes a couple of hours and when we get back on to line 4 all strings are working well and reporting firing.

After dinner the winds calm to 15-20 Kts, we have a following sea and the ride on the ship is much better.

The BIG news on board the ship today is that the Ecojustice lawsuit has been dismissed entirely.  My hope is that LDEO continues to push for recompense of layers’ fees.  Plus of course a post cruise bash!
