Troy Durant and Robert Weekly in command of the computers!

UO/UW science parties move computers and miscellaneous equipment on board the R/V Marcus G. Langseth, which is docked at Pier 1 in Astoria, Oregon.  PIs meet with Anthony Johnson (Tech-in-charge of Langseth Technical support team).  Typical Oregon coast summer day, fog in the morning followed by sunny afternoon.

The ship and crew are waiting for 3 items:

a. Diplomatic clearance
b. DFO clearance via the SARA application
c. The IHA from NMFS

0700 PDT - E-mail arrives from Meagan Cummings and attached are the Toomey IHA and ITS.  Conference call is scheduled for Thursday, August 20 at 1230LT to discuss these documents and ensure that their interpretation is consistent among the ship, the MMOs and the shore.

Toomey/Hooft/Wilcock are named in the Ecojustice court action.  We offer our ‘luxurious’ state rooms to all on board, noting that it comes complete with a court action.  No takers.

By the end of the day, William and Emilie provide a detailed cruise plan that indicates OBS drop positions, way points for airgun lines and a projected timeline for the cruise.  This is the first of several operational plans; fortunately William has codified this process so making iterations is relatively straightforward.  This was provided to Anthony Johnson by the end of the day.

Science party goes to town for dinner.  Weather is beautiful.
