This is a brief description for Astronomy 123 Winter 2018. A more complete description will be available on canvas. This course teaches the basics of cosmology...big bang, dark matter, energy and history of often incorrect assumptions of the nature of the universe. The lecture times are somewhat inconvenient. Friday at 4pm, in my opinion is not a great time for a lecture since some like to leave early for the weekend. I typically require attendance, which is graded. However, I will only require attendance on Monday and Wednesday lectures. Friday will be reserved for questions, material I didn't get to, etc. This isn't to say to skip Friday but it does give you some leniency if you need to leave for the weekend.
