Why Have so Many Birds Disappeared From a Tropical
Island in Panama?
The bird in the box is a Slaty Antshrike, deciding whether
to make its cross-water flight back to Barro Colorado
Island during our translocation experiment designed to figure out which species
move on and off of BCI.
Remarkably,
some species will not
traverse 100 m over open water.
Two species never flew more than 30 m. D. Robinson
