February 22, Monday, 7:30 p.m. "Western Cascades Geology and Plants," a slide talk by Louise Parsons, editor of the North American Rock Garden Society Newsletter. Sponsored by the Emerald Chapter, Native Plant Society of Oregon. Science Building, main campus, Lane Community College. Directions: from 30th Avenue turn south on Eldon Schafer Drive, go past Oak Hill School and park in LCC's south parking lot, east end. Walk downstairs to Science Building.

February 23, Tuesday, 7:30 p.m. Dana Africa, UO biology graduate and self-styled "aquatic entrepreneur," will give a slide program on the underwater life off the coast of Western Australia at the monthly meeting of the Lane County Audubon Society. The meeting is free open to the public and is preceded with a time to examine environmentally centered materials and visit with people. Coffee and cookies are also served. The location is 1645 High Street (opposite the Planned Parenthood Office).
