Accountability: What the ENHS Board does with your Money

It's fall, the time when organizations all over town ask for your support. Since The Eugene Natural History Society is no exception, we thought you'd like to know how we spend your money: Every month we print Nature Trails on 100% recycled paper and mail a copy to each member.

Then, with the plethora of funds left in our bank account after mailing approximately 175 copies of NT, we are able to offer a small donation in support of groups specifically dedicating their programs to education, research, and/or activities in the field of natural history. Our donation gives us some name recognition and a symbolic stake in the direction of our community.

This past year we sent checks in the amount of $50 each to Nearby Nature, The Pine Mountain Observatory, Friends of Buford Park and Mt. Pisgah, The Mt. Pisgah Arboretum, The Oregon Flora Project, Oregon Natural Desert Association, Pacific Rivers Council, Native Forest Council, The Rachel Carson Environmental Center for the Willow Creek Restoration Project a part of The Nature Conservancy, Oregon Natural Resources Council, National Coalition Against Pesticides, and the Cascade Raptor Center.

We welcome input from our members regarding these optional expenditures and add that your generosity beyond your actual membership commitment makes it possible for ENHS to demonstrate its ongoing support of its natural history mission in the community. We welcome your timely submission of dues.
