DISCOVERED PLACES
People are attracted to places in a manner similar to the way they are attracted to each other. Some places, simply put, make your heart go "pitter pat", you feel the tug, and you might even fall in love with that place. In this exercise, you will identify and describe a place (either on or near the University of Oregon campus) which you have discovered and which has such an effect on you. It should have some special characteristics which make it special and deserving of your attention.
You will work in teams of two. You have the option of either working jointly, describing a single place, or identifying two places, and working on the description together. When you have identified your place(s), send a message to the e-mail list "claiming" that place. First come, first served, but I do recommend taking the time to explore, seek out, and discover.
These places can range from a flower under a tree to a concert hall or a thoroughfare. They must be public spaces (i.e. not a dorm room), and they must be within the main campus area. We'll define that in class.
The projects must be presented in a self-contained packaged format (something that you can hand to someone else as opposed to something told to someone else) that can be posted/played back/projected or whatever. I encourage you to use any media in any combination.
Please note: If you rely primarily on words, the medium that you are probably most familiar with, I will expect very high quality work.
Good luck, and enjoy! Due Tuesday, October 8.
