Living Learning Project Concept VP
|
|
The Provost, the Vice President for Student Affairs,
the Vice President for Administration, and staff from Planning and Housing met
recently with ZGF to discuss the results of this process. That group endorsed
the core concepts of the proposed site plan, and recommended this variation
on the preferred scheme, Concept VP. They also enumerated the following principles
that should guide development on this site:
- The plan will include a new open space concept for
the Straub/Earl/Walton area, deemed the most suitable site to create living/learning
opportunities at the UO.
- That open space plan will maximize the opportunities
to improve and connect to Earl, Straub, Walton, and Carson, and maximize living/learning
opportunities throughout the site.
- The open space plan will form a new quadrangle with
east-west oriented buildings to the north and south, but not include additional
enclosed courtyards or additional building massing.
- The site concept will be sequenced in such a way
that, after each phase is complete, the campus fabric is left in good condition
and the previous three principles have been respected, possibly requiring
removal of existing building elements as part of each phase of construction.
