OMIC R&D TalkThe leadership and technical team from the Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center, R&D (OMIC R&D), will visit us and give a talk on Thursday, March 6, from 6:00 – 7:15 p.m. (Talk plus Q&A) in 162 Lillis.
Don Hendrickson and Urmaze Naterwalla are OEMBA alumni with extensive experience at Boeing before joining OMIC R&D. Omprakash Subbarao, CEO of Core Labs at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, India, will give a talk titled “Business Innovation in India Propelled by Digital Public Goods.” He will present how India's national digital strategy to build the requisite digital infrastructure is shaping innovation in various industry and government sectors. Omprakash has held executive leadership roles in the industry and the government for a career spanning three decades, working with organizations such as Accenture, Yahoo, Infosys, KPMG, and the Government of India. He has handled a variety of responsibilities across the entire spectrum – Marketing, Business Development, Strategy, Consulting, and Product management. He has been a Business Leader serving on the Advisory Boards of several corporates. In addition to being the CEO of Core Labs, he also serves as an Advisor for the National Health Authority (NHA), Government of India. |

Guest Speaker:
Linda Miller from Sila Nanotechnologies will be visiting LCB as an OBA Executive-in-Residence on Wed, June 5.
She will also give a talk as part of our OBA Industry Speaker Series. Linda Miller is the VP of Accounts at Sila. She joined Sila in 2018 and spent 6 years as VP of strategic sourcing and supply chain operations. Prior to Sila, Linda spent 15 years in the semiconductor capital equipment industry at Applied Materials, UBS Securities, and Montgomery Asset Management. During that time, Linda held leadership roles across multiple functions including strategic planning, manufacturing and supply chain operations, and technical program management, to name a few. Earlier in her career, she worked as a robotics researcher at Hitachi’s Mechanical Engineering Research Laboratory and a design engineer at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Linda serves on the Board of Advisors at the University of Oregon Lundquist College of Business where she also is an Executive in Residence. She is a member of the Industry Council of the Project Production Institute, which aims to improve the value that engineering and construction provide to the economy and to society. She is also a member of AWESOME, an organization dedicated to achieving women’s excellence in supply chain operations, management, and education. In 2021, she was named one of the 100 Most Influential Women in Supply Chain by Global Women Supply Chain Leaders. Linda holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Arts (AM) in Japanese Studies from Harvard University. |

OBA Internship Showcase is a vital part of our effort to enable you to leverage your learning from the business domain knowledge and rigor offered in the curriculum to seek high-quality internships during the program. Several students presented in the Fall Term of 2023. We will have four undergraduate and two graduate students share their internship experience this Thursday. We hope this will further motivate, enable, and guide other students in the audience (particularly OBA Concentrators) to gain insights from the Internship Showcase and plan to seek internships and jobs with success.

Tom Wright-Hay has over 25 years of experience in management, strategic planning, sales/marketing, engineering, and Lean Manufacturing. Tom’s career began as a project manager in a refinery for a Fortune 500 energy company and progressed to include internal business consulting and strategic planning roles. After obtaining his MBA from the University of Oregon, Tom was CEO/General Manager of a recreational products manufacturer where he successfully employed Lean to turn the company around. As a consultant with the Oregon Manufacturing Extension Partnership, Tom worked with numerous companies in the high-tech, wood products, metal fabrication, heavy equipment, and medical products industries. He served on OMEP’s board of directors, was a member of the State of Oregon’s Manufacturing Workforce Committee, and has guest lectured at the University of Oregon. Tom is currently the Vice President for Blue Star Gas. In addition to his MBA, Tom holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Cal State Fullerton. In his spare time, Tom enjoys hanging out with his kids, mountain and road biking, travel, and watching The Ducks. |

Craig Campbell and Don Hendrickson are visiting LCB as OBA Executives-in-Residence to explore a strategic partnership between OMIC R&D and LCB and other units at UO for experiential education and research in collaboration with major corporations, SMEs, and start-ups. Don Hendrickson is also the Chair of the Board of Governors of OMIC R&D, a University-Industry-Government Partnership (https://www.omic.us/) They will also give a talk on the state of the art of additive manufacturing (3-D printing) of metal-based parts at an industrial scale with implications for supply chains of aerospace, automotive, semiconductor, electronics, footwear, and energy sectors, among others. Craig Campbell and Don Hendrickson are both Ducks. |
