Introduction |
4. Spaces should be zoned by level. Often times, computer labs should have their own thermostat because of anticipated loads. By having the DCL and mezzanine offices share a thermostat, many people are thermally uncomfortable all of the time. 5. It is important to treat the design of a renovated space with just as much care as new construction. HVAC should not be an afterthought with a quick fix. Our case study implicates poor mechanical/ architectural planning as contributing to the uncomfortable conditions in the DCL. 6. Drafts can have a significant bearing on thermal comfort. The force of Supply Grille 1 blowing more than twice its specified cfm causes constant convection in the occupied zone during the fall/winter months. |
