Energy Transport in the Sun and Stars

The Solar energy is generated in the core of the Sun where it is the hottest and densest, the inner 20 % of its radius. In order to maintain thermal equilibrium we must then understand how the energy is redistributed in the Sun, and moves from the center of the Sun to the surface of the Sun. All methods of energy transport such that heat moves from hot regions to cool regions. There are three main ways stars transport energy:

The important transport mechanisms for the Sun are radiation transport and convection.
