Symptom:

Unit powered on (heater worked), mechanical timer ticked, but no ultrasonic activity (no bubbles/noise).

Root Cause:

Internal copper spring contact inside the mechanical timer suffered a fatigue crack, breaking the electrical circuit to the ultrasonic driver.

The Fix:

The failed spring was bridged with a phosphor bronze strip. Resistance tack welding was used instead of soldering to preserve the spring's temper and prevent heat-induced brittleness. The bending moment was shifted to a fresh section of the metal.

If Unit Fails Again

If the timer ticks but the unit does not sonicate, the repair patch has likely reached its fatigue limit. DO NOT attempt to repair the timer again. The mechanism is worn. Replace the timer unit using the part numbers below.
