It had been way too long since we’d been to the coast, so we loaded up the car with the boy and the sand toys and headed west. One of the amazing things about the Oregon coast is that there’s often a great deal of wind -- even when its blistering in the valley, and warm a half mile inland, it can be quite blustery and cold near the water -- as it was the day we went. But we suited Felix up in his coverall, and put on several layers ourselves, and we were quite cozy. Felix ran up and down the dunes, shoveled and sifted, and buried my toes in the sand.
