The Harry Potter Quizzes hatched in the Slide Library at Indiana University when one student confessed (foolishly) that she had not read the Harry Potter series. As she was mildly interested, about a dozen of her peers sprung into action, offering her copies (I believe it scared her.) I, upon recovering from the shock of her admission, informed her that she was now committed to not only completing the series, but being able to coherently discuss each book in detail and pass a test. I'm sure she thought I was joking. Recruiting/cajoling Jennifer Heusel (then Digital Imaging Acquisition Technician extraordinaire) into submitting questions for the examination, we decided on the current format and threshold of difficulty. Eventually, we made everyone take the Quizzes and even (only somewhat jokingly) told new hires that passing was part of the terms of their employment. To date, NO ONE had scored 100% on all the quizzes.
The format of the quizzes is as follows:
25 questions on each book, including
An Uber-Quiz on general information that includes opinion and short answer questions
There ARE trick questions
There ARE often multiple possible answers
At present, the Quizzes are in Word format. This may change if I ever have the time and inclination (at the same time, mind you) to write the HTML. Answers may be submitted in written or electronic form. No sources outside of the books themselves are allowed. Good luck, JCS
