While he took inspiration for much of his work from traditional Japanese themes, Hagiwara traveled extensively and embraced Western influences as well. These two black-and-white images from the artist’s forty-two print Greek Mythology portfolio look similar to Pablo Picasso’s etchings of Greek mythological figures from the 1930s.
