井田照一 Ida Shōichi (1941–2006) Paper Between a Snowed Stone and Road,  from the series Surface is the Between: Between Vertical and Horizon 1981 Silkscreen and lithograph, printed on both sides Museum Purchase: Caroline Ladd Pratt Fund, 83.58.2 Ida used handmade translucent paper as his between and then printed an image of a road on the back and a stone on the front, creating the illusion of a stone resting on a fine layer of snow on a paved surface. A water stain, deliberately applied by the artist, appears at bottom right; seemingly random stains appear in several other prints by the artist on display here.
