About This Print
I do not know how many prints are in the Shadow series and I have only seen seven of them, Shadow 5, 6, 9, 10 and 13 and the two prints in this collection, Shadow 11 and 12. I assume that all prints in this series use the motif of a newspaper background with superimposed silhouetted figures. The newspaper background is mirrored, leading me to wonder whether Hagiwara somehow incorporated actual newsprint into the block. I have seen some descriptions for prints in this series stating they are woodblock and multimedia, but for the two prints in this collection they appear to be traditional woodblock.verso
