About This Print
A prototypical image from the artist. This "male" face, using Kinoshita's early color scheme of orange and
sumi ink, takes up almost the entire image area. While dated 1981, the blocks were likely carved earlier, possibly in the mid-1950s. Kinoshita would initially make only several prints for his "artistic satisfaction" and then make additional prints as needed. While, as in this print's case, the total edition might be shown as fifty prints, in many cases the full edition would never be completed.
