About This Print
An early morning view of Pontochō alleyway connecting Shijo and Sanjo streets in Kyoto, famous for its shops and restaurants. The street is empty except for a lone geisha.Konishi created two editions of this print as shown below. The print on the right is noted as a a "private printing" (shikaban) of 200 imressions and this collection's print, on the left, carries the suffix II after its title and was issued in an edition of 500 prints. Konishi has used different artist seals in the prints' lower right corners.
