The Play - Himuro (The Cavern of Ice)

Source: A Guide to No, P.G. O'Neill, Hinoki Shoten, 1929, p. 55.
A Court official on his way back to the capital stops at Himuro-yama, the ‘Ice cave Mountain’, in Tango Province and there learns from an old man how the ice, which forms in sheltered spots, is preserved throughout the summer and served then to the Emperor.  The old man disappears into the cave, but a little later a goddess comes and dances, and then the god appears in his true form with a gift of ice for the Emperor.
