About This Print
The wedding of a 15 year old bride is protested by her ex-husband. For further information on what's transpiring here, a transcription of the kanji is provided below. This print is no. 12 out of a known 25 prints.1
The red and white cartouche in the upper right hand corner provides the date 明治八年 (Meiji 7 or 1875) the name of the paper 大阪錦画新聞 (Osaka nishikiga news) and the print number 第十二号 (12).
Following their introduction in Tokyo, nishiki-e shinbun made their appearance in Osaka. The Osaka issued prints differed from their Tokyo counterparts in being half-size (chuban rather than oban size) and not tied to a particular newspaper.

十五の年をむかへたる。娘に婿（むこ）と
定（さだ）めたるハ。勝田作治郎とて。けふ吉日の婚礼（こんれひ）に。表（おもて）ぐハらりと
一人リの男。誰（たれ）に遠慮（えんりよ）も媒酌迄（なかふどまで）。けちらすばかりニ上座（かミざ）へなをり
皆（ミな）さん聞（きか）れよ当家（このや）の娘。おとくと夫婦の約束（やくそく）を。したのハ
おれが一番地。清水（しミづ）といへる苗字（ミやうじ）なら。泥（どろ）をぬられた此（この）つらを
洗（あら）つてくれろと威張（いばり）けれバ。四海浪（しかいなミ）さへ津波（つなミ）のごとく

誰（たれ）ならんと。つくづく顔（かほ）を宮本（ミやもと）と。いへる男に覚（おほへ）えある
