# Homework Resources

Unless otherwise noted, Hand-In Homework is due Fridays at 3pm in my Math Department box. LG problems are problems taken from the Lecture Guides.

Remember that I expect your Hand-In Homework to follow these guidelines, taken from the course syllabus:

- Your name, assignment number, and due date are at the top of the front page.
- Multiple pages are stapled together.
- Pages are not torn from a spiral notebook (or at least cut off the "scruff").
- You have neat and complete solutions to all problems, with final answers clearly marked.
- Problems are organized in an easy-to-understand fashion. It must be clear, for each problem, what number it is, what section it's from, and whether it's from lecture guides or the textbook.

For homework help, you should come to my office hours and/or send me an email. Other free resources around campus include the Teaching and Learning Center and the Reading Room of the Mathematics Library.

Remember that Calculus is a work-intensive subject, and hence you will have a large amount of homework. I encourage you to start the homework as early as possible.

### Prerequisite Quiz

The Prerequisite Quiz will take place in class on Wednesday, September 28th, and will cover pre-requisite material.You should study the diagnostic tests A-D (pgs. xxiv-xxviii in the textbook), Sections 1.1-1.6, relevant appendices in the textbook, and the WebWorK Review. In particular, here are some practice problems (but don't restrict your studying to just these problems):

Both the diagnostic tests and Chapter 1 should be review for students; I will expect sufficient understanding of this pre-requisite material. If any of this review material is unfamiliar or confusing, you may want to consider taking a different math class in preparation for calculus.

### Midterm 1

Midterm 1 will take place in class on October 21st. You will have the entire 50 minutes to complete the exam. It will cover sections 2.1-2.8 and 3.1. I **highly suggest** that you attempt all of the review problems listed below before looking at the solutions.

### Midterm 2

Midterm 2 will take place in class on November 11th. You will have the entire 50 minutes to complete the exam. It will cover sections 3.2-3.5, 3.8 and 4.1 (though knowledge of previous sections is implied, e.g. you should know the power rule). I **highly suggest** that you attempt all of the review problems listed below before looking at the solutions.

### Final Exam

The final will take place on Monday, December 5th from 10:15-12:15 in our usual classroom (Anstett 191). You are allowed a half sheet of notes.
